This is the Place!

On the 25th of July we went to the This is the Place monument and Park. The Park was fun, they have different replicas of pioneer houses and buildings and inside you could do different crafts.
The first craft Gracee did was a beaded pin.
She was pleased with the finished product.
There was a school house where they sat in the desks and wrote on the little chalkboards.
I told Gracee that this is what happened to little boys and girls when they were naughty in class... She was not impressed.
As part of the 24th of July celebration they had a watermelon eating contest. The ages were from 1-12. Gracee & Emme didn't have a chance (as you can see in the picture Gracee was easily distracted!) Race or not they enjoyed eating the watermelon especially because it was SO HOT! (On a side note I had just given Gracee a talk that morning about eating not being a competition so I had to try and explain to her that this was a race:)
They did their best to keep both hands behind their backs while eating.
After one of the older boys finished his watermelon in seconds and the race was over Gracee found herself a quiet spot to keep in eating.

I was thinking about how sad it was that we didn't get a video of that contest. Guess we'll have to take them back next year!! Love the pictures they were what I had been waiting for!
